Interactive Installation Concerning Minimum Wage
I compiled research and translated it into a physical structure that emphasizes reflection about wages in the United States. I utilize material, traffic flow, and location of the installation to communicate the message.
Placement at the entrance of the U.S. Capitol Building creates a constant reminder since congressional action is the only way to resolve the issue.
Black is minimum wage, and glass is the missing amount to reach a living wage in that state.
In passing, the looming structure displays details to be examined.
The introduction block is the reference height of 7.25 feet, the federal minimum wage amount.
Every pillar represents one state.
The maze-like traffic flow forces the audience to take time with each pillar and compare.
At the center is a plaque on the ground stating a call to action.
